I am a Software Engineer with 25+ years of experience with one-on-one mentoring as well as group training.
I believe that if you build a strong foundation, only the sky is the limit. I would love to help you realize your potential.

I can offer you my expertise in the full Software Development Life Cycle, as practiced within the telecommunications and medical devices industries. I enjoy covering topics from basic computer logic to advanced programming, and would readily share my knowledge on the topics of requirements, architecture / design and testing.

I am also an active member of the Agile community in South Florida, promoting this software development practice that puts the customer first and is conducive to producing the most valuable results to the end user.

I have taught people of all ages, from school and college students to new and seasoned professionals, helping them overcome hurdles and thrive in their environments. The WyzAnt platform, which I joined last year, provides an excellent opportunity for me to offer my tutoring skills, allowing me to focus on you and your needs.

I am willing to travel to a location that is conveniently accessible to both of us, so we could spend more of our time learning instead of traveling.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed in your academic endeavors.

C,

C

As a software engineer with Motorola Inc. for over 26 years, I developed stand alone applications in C that were used to program several radio product families. I also developed radio firmware (embedded software) using C. I mentored younger software engineers on the application's design and coding standards that had to be adhered to when updating these programs. Our good programming practices included code inspections, which provided broad exposure to C code. Inspections included reviewing thousands of lines of C code, sometimes my own and other times another engineer's code.
C#,

C#

As a software engineer with Motorola, Inc., I have developed applications using C# and the .NET development environment to improve development cycle time and minimize defect introduction rates. As an independent contractor, I have developed C# applications and excel add-ins to support customers that include Business Owners / Executives, Business Intelligence Directors, and Sales Professionals.
C++,

C++

As a software engineer with Motorola, Inc., I developed several development platforms in C++ that were used to produce stand-alone applications called Customer Programming Software. These applications are used to program 2-way FM radios to configure their behavior to suit Public Safety customers, which includes Fire, Police, and Secret Service personnel. I developed C++ coding standards and trained other engineers on object-oriented design and programming practices and enforced adherence to the standard.
Computer Engineering,

Computer Engineering

I hold a Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering (officially a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Computer Engineering Option) and a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering. My Computer Engineering core curriculum comprised logic, programming - from microprocessors like the Intel 8086 using assembly language, to programming within computer systems using higher level languages like C - defining and implementing algorithms to produce effective programs, and using software engineering techniques to produce efficient programs. Working as a software engineer in the telecommunications industry for over 25 years, I further developed my teamwork skills, living the adage that the parts are never as great as the whole. My communication and negotiation skills were also further developed, allowing me to become an effective leader in both the technical and management arenas. I enthusiastically shared my knowledge, from bits and bytes to higher concepts with my colleagues. Working with newer programming languages like C++ and C#, learning from personal experience, I mentored, informally tutored and formally trained members of my organization, which included 3 continents and multiple cultures. My expertise as a Software Engineering spans topics related to the software development life cycle (i.e. requirements, architecture, design, implementation, testing) and its supporting industry activities (i.e. configuration management, quality assurance and process improvement).

Very patient and gifted with a way of making C++ seem so simple.

Miriam really helped me looked at the picture and best of all with real diagrams to make sure I understand the concept and I'm not just guessing how to answer. She really understanding programming and how to put it into simple vocabulary in order to learn the jargon and be more fluent. Before meeting with her, I already felt the urge to give up the idea of becoming a software enhinner. After just one 2 hour session, I feel confident that I can actually learn this stuff. I feel so blessed to have some found someone who can explain abstract concepts in such a simplistic form. I'm very excited to continue my engineering career.

Knowledgeable and excellent tutor

I learned in two and a half hours what I hadn't learned in a month. She is really patient and teaches so well the material that you are able to understand it.

Miriam came to the rescue!

I was taking my first introductory course to programming and was having a rough time. Initially i was hesitant to look for help, but eventually i realized that I needed help. Finding a good tutor is always difficult task, lucky for me, Miriam was in my area and was able to help me understand Pseudocode. Miriam is an amazing teacher, she was patient with me and was able to explain pseudocode so that i could understand the different concepts. Its always hard to find someone, who is a good teaching others and she has that gift. I'm thankful for her tutelage from beginning to end and recommend her to anyone who needs help in programming.

Thank you for the help

I left our session not really knowing what I learned but when I sat down to do my assignment, the session really put me where I needed to be. If you're taking Microprocessor Programming, I highly recommend Miriam C.
