Hello, my name is Becky :). I have worked as a private tutor for six years mostly in the following subjects: science (college and high school chemistry and biology), math (general math k-6th grade, prealgebra, geometry, algebra I and algebra II), GED test prep and TEAS prep (all sections). Also, I work extensively with homeschool students who use FLVS as well as other institutions.I am very positive, patient and believe in teaching by example. My goal is to make sure my students really understand the material at hand and can use the skills he or she has acquired to perform well. I am able to do that by employing the following strategy: I generally cover the topic, then explain it in detail, make the student do some problems or write depending on the subject, and finally I make them explain and teach the topic back to me. This makes difficult subjects seem simple and easy to understand, which is my secondary goal. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me.
PS: I have my MS in Pharmacy (concentration Pharmaceutical Sciences) from the University of Florida. Hello, my name is Becky :). Great 1st session with my son. He is very happy and looking forward to his next tutor session. The feedback of initial class very well explained and with a plan in place to help Giancarlo improve his math skills.
Rebecca when over the GED math portion exam with my son. They went their the whole test together, she made sure my son understood and knew what he was doing. My son did awesome on his exam.
She has been more than helpful ! I am studying for my TEAS and I think she is awesome ! Excellent tutor !!!
Rebecca had a lot of patience with my daughter and seemed to be very easy going. She is great and may daughter learned from her a lot. So happy to have found her.
Today we started in geometry! Rebecca wrote notes, taught me a lesson on the basics of geometry, than helped me through practice questions! Rebecca is a great listener and explains things very well!
Rebecca was such an amazing tutor! I had her help me study for the TEAS test, and she could not have done a better job. She was always available when I needed her most. One thing I really liked was that she would make homework questions for me to do after our lessons, which were really helpful. I am very thankful for all the help she gave me. She is very smart and can help with many topics.
Wonderful person, Intelligent, Helpful when needing extra clarification, and Sweet. I highly recommend her as a tutor if needing help with the TEAS or any subject!
Teas preparation with Rebecca was amazing . She is knowledgable , understanding, easy going person . Don't hesitate, just ask her to be your tutor.
Rebecca is such a patient tutor! She reviewed Geometry with my daughter. My daughter did not feel to confident before but after her session with Rebecca she is ready to take her mid-term! She said Rebecca simplified the work!
She's helped my son make good strides with biology. Patient, & honest about what he needs to start doing for himself. Many Thanks
Although my son started with Rebecca before needing help she jumped right in and started working ahead. My son said, "Rebecca made it so easy to understand it feels like cheating!"
10th grade Geometry. Extremely knowledgeable, well versed in many subjects and a patient tutor! She is responsive and realistic in goals set.
Rebecca did great she talked to my daughter for a few minutes then started right away. They covered alot of work in a short time. She also did quick review questions to see how much my daughter was retaining. Was able to keep my daughter involved and didn't lose her attention. Even let me make subject related jokes in the background. Very pleased definitely see her being able to get my daughter back to where she needs to be.
Rebecca is very patient and friendly when explaining the material. She makes learning fun and not a dreadful task. We are very lucky to have her as our tutor and would definitely recommend her. She's the best!!
Becky is a great tutor. She helped my daughter (13 in gifted algebra/math) gain the confidence needed to work independently.
Rebecca tutored my daughter in College Chemistry (Miami Dade College). For the first time, my daughter felt well prepared for class and understood all of the concepts even though this was an accelerated, short semester. She passed both the lecture and lab portions of the subject. She had previously taken other classes at the college and had limited success. We are eternally grateful to Becky for the devotion and knowledge of the subject matter, and her ability to teach it to our daughter. She even tutored via skype when needed. She is 10 stars in our book!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught ten different homeschooled children either from scratch or following the syllabus that was provided by the school. I taught in all K-10th-grade subjects as well as high school chemistry. I have a statement of eligibility from the state of Florida. Finally, my students were able to understand the material and were eager to learn the material.
I have tutored many students (both traditional and home-schooled). I have made my own syllabus from scratch and administered exams. I have done this for math and history. I have helped students raised their exam scores and made they feel better about his or herself.
I have helped tutor children and adults for several years now, particularly middle and high school students. I have worked with over 25 students in various private lessons. I have also worked with home-schooled children. I am currently pursing my MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. I have also worked for a language school prior to working for WzyAnt. I have taught students several useful methods for studying depending on the subjects. This includes how to organize and write your notes, how to make flashcards, mnemonics, illustrations for physics, highlighting correctly, and chemistry and general class preparation skills.
I have tutored students in all the portions of the TEAS examine. I have worked with 5 different students who took the exam and entered into the nursing program. The test is composed of basic English, Chemistry, Biology, and Math. I have tutored in these subjects for a while and have done so successfully.
