In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My Undergraduate degree from U. of Miami is a Bachelor of Arts: History & English. I am well traveled & currently read historical non-fiction. I taught American History for 15 years (Grades 8 and secondary, Grade 10).
GED is for those students who have not been able to graduate utilizing the regular school schedule, either for health reasons, family difficulties, etc. Many GED courses are separated into math and English. The goal is a graduation certificate from high school. I used to teach the English section of GED, which includes grammar, writing and reading.
Study Skills is a necessary skill for student success. In teaching American History to Grades 7th ,8th and 10th, notetaking
and organizational skills were a must! Notes were turned into me weekly, corrected and returned. A highlighter is required!
Writing and grammar is my very favorite subject to tutor. I love to brainstorm outlines, then ideas to fill in the headings, and start up a successful momentum. Contact me for success! We'll have a good time and prepare an excellent essay. After you do one or two, it becomes easier & easier. Julia
