Success in school is about reinforcement and applying the knowledge you're given. At the beginning of the school year, many students slack off because the teacher is reviewing basic concepts or become distracted by their friends and extracurricular activities. Don't wait until the year progresses to find out your son/ daughter has missed out on the bulk of the material being taught! Send an email to find out how to get started. You won't regret it.
I am a current university student seeking an hourly position as a tutor until December 11th, 2015. My schedule varies due to school and other priorities, but I am always willing to work with students on the schedules and fees. I am highly recommended and very experienced, having cared for special needs foster children and have previously provided tutoring for students ages 3 – 18. I have 5+ years of experience in both tutoring and child care, including over 400 hours with WyzAnt.
I provide hourly tutoring sessions for students ranging from ages 3 through 18. Math is my primary focus, but I have experience in all of my qualified subjects. Michelle has been tutoring our sons for almost the entire school year. I cannot say enough good things about her. She has an amazing work ethic and treats my boys with patience and kindness. The atmosphere in my house when it comes to homework time has changed completely. They don't avoid it or make any negative comments. Their grades are consistently A's & B's and the teachers write special notes on their report cards about being well prepared for class and being self-directed. With Michelle's help my boys are having a wonderful experience with school and learning, which is life-long.
Thank you for your positive review! Working with your family is such a joy, and it's been a positive experience on my end as well.
My daughter has always struggled in math and doesn't like to ask questions in class, so I was looking for a tutor to help her in Algebra 1 and prep her for the EOC all while making her feel comfortable. Michelle came to the rescue!!! She is fantastic! My daughter connected with her right away. She made her feel very comfortable and was easy to learn from. Michelle was always punctual and willing to work with me around my busy schedule. I must add that with Michelle's help my daughter raised her grade in Algebra 1 and felt confident taking the EOC! Thank you Michelle :)

Michelle had the student who was scheduled before my daughter canceled. She contacted us to say she could help her before her scheduled time. We took advantage of her good will. She really enjoys her learning time with Michelle.
Michelle and my daughter work very well together. She enjoys her time with Michelle and takes home important learning skills from each tutoring session.
Thank you, Mr. B! I'm glad she enjoys her time and is learning the material at the same time. I enjoy working with her as well. She has a great personality.
Michelle seemed like a very nice person. My son took one class with her and felt comfortable with her. I was thrilled that I found a tutor on the first try. We arrived at the second lesson and Michelle was running late. We waited about 20 minutes but it did not seem like she would have time for my son so we left. Michelle emailed apologizing and offered a make up class at no charge. We tried to the lesson for the same week but it didn't work out. We agreed to resume lessons the following week. The morning of the tutoring session I emailed her 3 times to confirm the evening session and did not hear back from her until 15 before the session. I informed Michelle that I was not going to be able to make it since I had not heard from her sooner. Michelle was not happy with my e-mail and asked me to get another tutor. I did not have enough sessions with her to rate her knowledge as a tutor but I can say that I wish she were more reliable.
Mayela, I am so sorry you feel that way. It makes me uneasy to know that after everything I've done to try and accommodate you, you were still unhappy with my services. The first session went well, and I was looking forward to working with your son. From the get- go, you were unable to afford my fee so I was happy to reduce the fee by $10 in order to better serve you. I am a full- time university student, and I tutor approximately 10 hours per week. I have six other students who are content with my services, and fortunately, I have never had an issue arise like this one. Being in school all day and then having students to attend to, I was unable to reply right away to your email. When you notified me that you would be unable to make it because of my lack of a prompt reply and the long drive you'd have to make, I kindly suggested you find a tutor who would be more suitable to achieve the expectations of you and your son.
Great algebra tutor, patient, polite, good with young students and dedicated. She understands students' needs and posses good communication skills. Always prompt with feedback. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took Algebra 1 while still in middle school and received a final grade of an "A". This is one of my favorite subjects to do and to teach because there is such a variety of methods for solving Algebraic problems.
I am currently an undergraduate university student. Before being accepted to 7 out of the 8 universities I applied to, I had completed countless hours of research on various universities and their programs. I also have experience applying for financial aid, like Florida's Bright Futures, FAFSA, and many scholarships. I can help make completing applications, writing admissions essays, and making your life- changing decisions much easier.
I have tutored students from as young as 4 years old. One of my strengths is math, specifically Elementary- level math. I've also tutored in reading and writing at an Elementary level. I am involved in many extra- curricular activities involving children and believe their education is a primary priority.
I have tutored several students in Elementary level math. Math is one of my favorite subjects, and I truly enjoy working with students in this subject.
From matter to energy to the types of rock, Elementary science is my kind of subject! I am currently majoring in a science field, and I have experience in tutoring science. When tutoring science in the past, I've helped students complete science experiments, class projects, and research.
Grammar is a fundamental part of learning. I believe every child should have the experience in learning grammar skills and basic grammar "rules". I did phenomenal in my Advanced English Language and Composition course and have taken workshops specific to grammar. I think I have what it takes to instill grammar education in you/ your child.
"There is always room for improvement." is a common phrase used my teachers. Proofreading is an additional set of eyes to review work and implement new ideas to improve your writing. I think I would be an asset to proofreading any of your/ your child's work.
I am a University student, majoring in Clinical Psychology. I have taken both Psychology I and II in high school, and I passed with an "A." Continuing my education in psychology has expanded my familiarity with so much material in different areas of psychology. I have excelled at my knowledge of both old and modern psychology terms, and I am very confident in the subject. I think I would be a valuable asset to anyone who needs help in psychology.
Reading is a fundamental part of learning any subject. I believe that reading is the limelight to success and without it, there will be immense struggle. When tutoring in reading, I make sure students thoroughly understand what they're reading and they fully comprehend the surrounding material. I emphasize the use of context clues and inference clues.
My junior year in high school, I passed AP Language and Composition with an "A". During the final two years of high school, I had written such a plethora of multiple varieties of writing. These include: essays, research papers, summaries, and proposals. In my opinion, writing is such a crucial part of earning an education and is a fundamental part of the SAT. I have excellent grammar skills, a strong vocabulary, and a lot of experience in tutoring writing. I took my SAT only one time and exceeded the 2012 averages in each portion of the test, making me confident that I will be an asset in your child's success.
I have been a great speller since my Elementary years. Spelling doesn't come naturally; it takes practice. As a tutor, I will be constantly rehearsing the sounds of letters and how they bind to create words: spelling.
I am a current university student who has always maintained good study habits, and I would be an asset in helping you/ your child study as well. Many people are passive learners and are used to memorizing before tests. What is more crucial to memorizing is understanding. I'd be thrilled to be an additional motivator to you/ your child.
As a university student, I have a wide range range of vocabulary. Each day is an opportunity to learn more and expand my word bank. As a tutor, I will implement the lessons I was taught to expand my vocabulary. Vocabulary is not about knowing a word and how to spell it, it's about understanding the word and creating meaning to the word. As a tutor, I'd help you/ your child "understand" their vocabulary.
