My name is Martha. I have been teaching for thirty years. I have had experience-teaching children at all levels and cultures including my own. I love to sing, cook and change my house around. I really like to take care of my family . I am a naturalized citizen of the United States but I am a full-fledged Jamaican. I have worked in different capacity as a teacher since I came here in this country. I worked as Spanish teacher for grades K -8, Art, music and Kindergarten teacher. I also tutored students who have problems with English and have seen great results. My hope is to continue to help students who struggle in areas of language arts and reading.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been working as an Elementary teacher for the past thirty years and I have just recently completed a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. My experience coupled with my education should qualify me to teach in this area. I also work with students who are learners of a second language.
I am an Early Childhood Education teacher. At this level phonics plays an important part in the development of students' language. My experience over the last ten years is that of teaching phonics to Kindergartners and ESOL students and I have experienced great success.
Understanding how students learn most efficiently is a key concept to help students understand themselves and their learning environment. Teaching students how to take charge of their learning is my responsibility as a teacher. It is also my responsibility to provide the environment and the activities whereby students can practice these skills so that their aptitude and interest will be greatly increased. Showing students that you care will also motivate them to learn. I think that I am qualified to teach in this area because I have both the qualifications and the experience to do so.
