I am a Certified mathematics Teacher, grades 6-12, who has taught high school mathematics for many years. I have also been teaching various courses in math and French to University students as well. I am very patient and understand that some students have a fear of mathematics, often due to a lack of understanding the basics. Students often need to be retaught what was not learned previously with an experienced and patient teacher.
I have had great results with my previous students on a one on one basis, I even have had students improving gradually their grade from a F to an A. Of course, it improves the student's confidence tremendously, and the parents are very happy as well!
I teach many topics in mathematics, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Calculus, SAT, French etc.
I hold a Mathematics degree from University of California at Santa Cruz, a Baccalaureate in Economics from France and I have 7 pilot licenses, including commercial pilot and flight instructor in airplanes.
Being a native from France, I love to teach French as well. I have taught in International Schools, Berlitz and Inlingua, which has given me tools to use the best method for students to learn conversational French. I am a Certified mathematics Teacher, grades 6-12, who has taught high school mathematics for many years. I have also been teaching various courses in math and French to
I teach a two hour minimum lesson.
Today he was speaking much more French and he seemed to be enjoying it very much, which is very important to us. During the math class he was introduced to some new activities but in a very light manner so there was no stress on his side. I liked very much how Virginie switches from easier topic to a harder one, no pressure just patience and explanation in a very positive way.
Viriginie, was excellent at understanding my needs and assessing my level of knowledge in Algebra to effectively conduct our first tutoring session.
Virginie and my son had a very productive session. He enjoyed working with her and he ended feeling very energized. We are now trying to see if we will be able to fit into both our schedules and work around the distance she will need to travel. I was happy with the session.
Virginie is an incredible tutor. My son so enjoyed his time with her. She made all of the math lessons highly productive and a ton of fun. She is a joy to work with!
My daughter has had had 3 sessions with Virginie and has worked with her very well. My daughter has improved this last grading period Math and we are continuing the sessions.
My 16 year old son has had three sessions with Virginie and both his French and his Algebra have improved incredibly. He feels comfortable expressing the areas that he's unfamiliar with and Virginie is able to teach him right where he's at and move him forward with confidence. We wish we could bring her back to Oregon with us. She's been great!!!
Virginie enunciates clearly and answers all of my questions thoroughly. Our lesson was very pleasant and informative.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
With the experience I have teaching Algebra 1, in high school and also one on one with my students, I am able to see exactly where the student is at. I am also able to show simple ways for students to understand the material. I have developed techniques and methods that facilitate learning Algebra and try to make it interesting by showing some application in real life.
Algebra 2 is a very important subject and has the foundation for all future math. If this subject is mastered, students can learn easier higher levels of math. With the experience I have teaching Algebra 2, in high school and also one on one with my students, I am able to see exactly where the student is at. I am also able to show simple ways for students to understand the material. I have developed techniques and methods that facilitate learning Algebra. I try to make Algebra interesting by also showing application of problems in real life.
My University B.A degree from the University of California is Computational Mathematics, and I had to take several courses in differential equations, which are several forms of derivatives from calculus using several variables.
My University B.A degree from the University of California is Computational Mathematics, and I had to take upper division courses in discrete math. Discrete math is the study of mathematical structures and functions that are "discrete" instead of continuous.
My fascination for films is an understatement. I have taken several University courses on films in California. I know about directors and directors' style, actors, classics from the 1930s and beyond.
My University B.A degree from the University of California is Computational Mathematics, and I had to take several courses in Logic. One of these classes was taught by a world renowned professor, where I did get the highest grade in the class along another student who was studying for his PHD. Mathematical logic is the study of logic applied to different mathematical subjects often divided into the fields of set theory, model theory, recursion theory, and proof theory.
Having taught Precalculus for many years, I have had great results with my students, one on one. Even the ones having difficulties in the toughest schools and at the highest levels did eventually very well. I have developed techniques and methods that facilitate learning Precalculus and I try to make the lesson fun by showing real life application of the formula.
