I love to read and write, and math is near and dear to my heart. My own children overcame their difficulties in school with my help. I have tutored ESOL students, who have been successful in class and on state standardized assessments. To help you become confident about your ability to be demonstrate academic achievement, and accomplishing it, are my goals. A bonus would be to instill a love of learning in you.
I was awarded Exemplary Math Teacher of the year. My students consistently, year after year, demonstrated growth on standards based assessments. I have many strategies to best help my students learn.
I use materials that are of interest to the students. Discussions and activities make learning and reading fun. Grammar and writing is taught through use of the reading material.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
