University of Florida (Applied Physiology)
Hello! My name is Kris S. and I have been volunteering and working with Middle and High School students for about 10 years now. I started as a youth worker for several different churches in the southeast, but have, for the past 3 years, been working as a Teacher at Geneva Classical academy, where I teach, 6th and 8th grade math, as well as Anatomy and Physiology. I received my degree from the University of Florida in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology which really means I know a good bit about Fitness and Wellness. I really love to help students solve problems and improve themselves and would really enjoy helping students of any level improve and learn. Both of my parents are teachers and I have really enjoyed helping some of their students from time to time to see things in a different way than my parents teach their subjects. I went to a private school through middle school and then went through the International Baccalaureate program while in high school, so I know how difficult school can be. I will never demean or offend any students, but I will challenge them to think while working with them and trying to give them a different perspective on the things they are struggling with. I understand the need for the subjects to be practical and I will do my best to show the students how important the things that they are learning actually are.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
