UMass Dartmouth (History)
Goddard College (Master's)
I have a BA from UMass Dartmouth where I majored in History with an English minor. I finished my MA from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont in 2007. While there, I studied learning disabilities, multiple intelligence, experiential education, workshop facilitation, and memoir writing. I worked as a tutor for high school students for five years for the Twin Valley School System from 2004 to 2009. My work was with special education students and students transitioning from residential and other alternative placements; in my last year with the school, I worked in the PACE room at Twin Valley High School. The PACE room provides tutoring to a variety of students in all subjects. I tutored students in English, History, Math, Science, and any other subject they were taking. I worked with students in standard high school curriculum, curriculum that I created for the student, and AGS texts. I also have experience in environmental education. I served as Coordinator for the ELF (Environmental Learning for the Future) Program in Whitingham, VT and also served as a volunteer educator for ELF in local elementary schools. In the mid to late nineties I worked as an educator for the Children's Museum in Dartmouth, MA.
I enjoy working with teenagers and have a good rapport with that age group.

There is a minimum one hour lesson charge if the lesson is less than an hour by the student's choice. After that, parts of an hour will be charged as such.
Gina was excellent. She is helping review things that I learned many, many years ago. She is helping me with a few different subjects; there are few thing in Math and English that we are going to be going over.
We were very happy with this first lesson and are looking forward to working with Gina in the future.
Gina tutored my son with his SAT Reading prep. He was very satisfied after his first lesson and we will continue working with her.
She teaches with a great sense of humor which makes you feel your in a relaxed environment at all times. It's much easier to learn something new when you don't feel pressured and she hits it on the head how to teach. Where was she when I was in high school?
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took a minimum of 4 courses in the History of Religion during my BA studies. On my own time, I have studied religion extensively over a period of 10-15 years including reading most of the major religious texts. I have a broad knowledge of the world's religions as a result. It is an area of personal interest that I enjoy and am, therefore, always willing to work within.
I studied learning disabilities, learning and the brain, AHDH, PTSD, multiple intelligences, and more during my MA studies. I worked as a tutor and behavior interventionist with a special ed student transitioning out of a residential placement for one year.
I worked for 5 years in an alternative program for special ed and behavioral students in a public high school as a 1 to 1 and small group tutor. I am currently employed at a private alternative day school where I have worked as a substitute english teacher and currently as a 1 to 1; all students where I work are currently on IEPs.
I have worked with several students preparing to take the TEAS test. My background in English - writing, grammar, comprehension, and usage - is exceptionally strong and I have extensive experience working with students on foundational math skills. I also do well working with students on study skills.
