About Paul

I look forward to showing you the beauty, elegance and ubiquity of Mathematics and Physics. The study of these subjects is an investment well worth the time and effort because, unlike much of what we see and hear around us, these are basic and eternal truths. The people who came before us discovered these ideas and they deserve our gratitude which we can show by learning the concepts and principles they left for us. We stand on their shoulders and are fortunate to be able to move on to even greater levels of understanding of our world and the fruit it bears.

What is unique about my lessons is that I provide one of my Summary Sheets about the topic that helps a student more easily retain what he has learned months [ or years ] after the lesson. It is a laminated page summarizing the ideas one must know about the topic and makes it easy to go over the ideas many times thus using repetition to impart retention.

I was an electronics engineer for 35 years. Then I taught High School Math and Physics for 10 years. I can greatly reduce the time it takes to learn the topics and problem types and I make it easier to retain what you learn through the use of summary sheets. Most of the sheets I use I have created and continually refined over my many years of classroom teaching.

I hold BSEE and MSEE degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY.
I have worked in Nuclear Physics and in Silicon Valley for my 35 year engineering career, mostly at particle beam accelerators [atom smashers]. I was on the engineering team that supported the first discovery of Element 106, Seaborgium in 1975.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I taught Calculus for 10 years in High School. I also used Calculus in my work as an electronics Engineer for 30+ years. During this time I worked at particle beam accelerators [atom smashers] building equipment to improve and support the physics experiments.

Great experience

I was lucky to find some help for my son. The subject was physics. He responded very fast. And my son received help on a Sat and Sunday via skype. The overall experience was a 4.5 according to my son. It would of been a five star if he was in person. But 5 star for fast convenient service.
