Nova Southeastern University (Elementary Education)
I am an educator of 15 years+ and a Florida native. I have had the opportunity to work within several different schools throughout my years of teaching. I enjoy working with students and getting to know them and their educational needs. My students are extremely important to me. I encourage, love and support them every step of their learning process. As a certified teacher I have had experience with all types of learners including ESE, ESOL and regular education students. Each experience has brought me closer to my students as well as given me a sense of accomplishment knowing my students are moving on with the basic essentials they need to become a better learner for years to come.
I have experience teaching elementary reading and vocabulary skills through whole group as well as individual instruction. Creating specialized lessons according to individualized assessments. Reading and vocabulary strategies to overcome test-taking anxiety.
I have patience and understanding of the breakdown of phonological awareness in young students. Using reading strategies to overcome phonics issues. Helping students to enjoy reading at their own pace and understanding.
I have worked with all grade levels as well as different learning types of students including ESE, ESOL and regular education students. Specializing in 2nd and 3rd grade reading skills with emphasis in 3rd grade test-taking strategies.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was a teacher 15+ years. I taught 2nd grade eleven out of those fifteen years. I taught phonics skills daily with emphasis in phonemic awareness, reading skill strategies and word work. These skills are vital for any reading, vocabulary or writing development. These skills were taught in a whole group setting as well as in a small skill group or individualized instruction.
