Jarrod made my daughter more comfortable with chemistry. He was able to explain things in one hour that my daughter's teacher couldn't convey in weeks. I highly recommend!
Jarrod has been helping my son with Honors Chemistry. He is helpful, personable and is easy to work with. He is willing and able to break down the material to an understandable level. He is the first person I have ever seen who has made chemistry interesting for my son. I cannot recommend Jarrod enough.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
ACT math combines the most practical parts of algebra and geometry. It's good stuff to know for college preparation and getting ready for higher math; plus it's just handy for honing your problem-solving skills. I can make it easy for you! I use this type of math every day in what I teach, and I'm uniquely qualified to bring it to you.
The ACT is all about graph interpretation and inferences. Sometimes, this "gray-area" skill is difficult for students who are accustomed to everything being "either-or" and "black and white." I can work with the student, and get them more used to dealing with inferring and gleaning information from texts, references, and graphs. This is a great preparatory skill for college and higher-level math and science!
Algebra is a cornerstone of not only all higher math, but also all the sciences. I currently teach honors and advanced placement chemistry at the high school, and we use algebra every single day in my class. My students will all tell you that an essential first step toward success in math and science classes is a basic confidence in using the tools of algebra to help solve problems involving an unknown. I have an excellent background, since algebra in my class is not just theory, but the practical application of those methods.
Algebra 2 is not only a continuation of the skills from algebra 1, but it lays the foundation for higher math, like analysis of functions and pre-calculus. For the student who wants to build a good transcript which will catch the eye of a college or university, algebra 2 is a must. And for the student pursuing anything science-related, it's a necessary pre-requisite. I can help; my broad science and math background allows me to relate some of the more difficult concepts to practical, real world situations.
Astronomy is an important part of physical science that encompasses physics, chemistry, and a look at the origins of everything. Here in Central Florida, we have a unique connection to this scientific discipline, with the nearby Kennedy Space Center. As our society moves into the future, with the "Final Frontier" beckoning for exploration and technological advance, this branch of science will continue to grow in pertinence. I can help make it understandable for any student.
Biology is the important study of living things, and a good working knowledge of biology is necessary to understand bodily processes. These processes affect our daily lives, and can give a helpful perspective on health and wellness. I can help make biology more sensible and understandable for the student, by citing real world examples and connections.
I am currently a teacher of honors and advanced placement chemistry at a local high school. I have been teaching science for 5 years in both Orange and Seminole Counties. One of my strengths is taking a rigorous subject like chemistry and making it more understandable, by relating to familiar things in the student's real world.
Elementary math is a precursor to algebra, which, in turn, is the cornerstone of all high school level math and science. It's a great idea to get strong on it at the elementary level, and it will serve the student well throughout middle and high schools.
Elementary science sets the stage for the middle school sciences: earth/space, life, and physical. These, in turn, prepare you for high school: biology, chemistry, and advanced placement opportunities. It's important to gain a knowledge of the basic concepts central to science before moving on to these higher levels.
Geology explains the often complicated processes that shape our world. Understanding geology means understanding not only where our world has been, but where it's going. It often incorporates both physics and chemistry. I can make it all understandable for the student.
Geometry is perhaps the most practical application of math. It incorporates the fundamentals of algebra, which immediately makes the importance of algebra apparent. So many real life applications of geometry exist that it's easy to see how important a good knowledge of this can be. I can make geometry important, pertinent, and interesting for the student.
I currently teach advanced placement chemistry at the high school level, and in this college-level class, a good deal of the curriculum includes organic concepts such as hybridization, functional group nomenclature, bond types and lengths and their effects on organic properties, inter-molecular forces and their effects on organic properties, resonance structures, and hypervalence. Additionally, I took several courses in college in chemistry. I also regularly tutor several students in college chemistry.
I have several years' experience teaching physical science to both middle and high school age students. I currently teach high school honors and advanced placement chemistry, but have taught physical science, earth/space science and biology. I can definitely make science more understandable for the struggling student, due to my extensive science teaching background.
Pre-algebra leads to algebra, which has countless applications, not only in the real world, but in the continued schooling that the student will receive throughout high school (and on into college.) I can make it understandable and bring it all down to earth.
SAT math - you have to grab hold of it so that colleges will want to take a closer look at you. So, let me help you grab hold if it! I use this math every day in what I teach, and I'm uniquely qualified to make it happen for you!
I taught video production at the middle school level for three years, and my students won numerous county and district level awards for their work. Prior to that, I was a television station photojournalist for 16 years at several different network-affiliated television stations. At these organizations, I was an award-winner, picking up awards from the Associated Press, the Society for Professional Journalists, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. My college major at Florida State University was in radio and television production.
