There are different methods on how to learn either Music Theory or an instrument. Usually I evaluate the student to see which method is suitable for their skills, level or age appropriate. I use either Bastien, Alfred's, John Thompson, and Hal Leonard among others. Students meet with me for one hour class. In our classes you will learn music theory; music notation, scales, time values, key signatures, intervals, how to transport to another key, music vocabulary, music exercises, proper performance of your instrument.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
