Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have been a Special Education Teacher for 18 years and have experience with students with ADD/ADHD. I incorporate physical activities and hands on learning to capture and maintain attention. I also employ redirection skills and teach metacognitive strategies that support the student's ability to learn to self monitor. Additionally, I am familiar with 504 plans and implementation of accommodations.

Aspergers

I have been a Special Education Teacher for 18 years and have experience teaching students with Aspergers and other students who exhibit behaviors that fall on the spectrum of Autism and related disorders. I incorporate differentiated instructional strategies that meet the individual needs of each child. I have extensive experience with Individual Education Plans and accommodations.

Special Needs

I have been a Special Education Teacher for over 20 years. I am certified in Varying Exceptionalities. I have experience with students with learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, communication disorders, rare syndromes, and Autism.

Study Skills

I have experience teaching students who need to learn how to organize and study. Many students who struggle to learn, lack cognitive assets such as organizing, study skills, optimism, time management, and attention.
