I have a Masters Degree in Engineering from Stanford University with strong math skills. I have coached my own three children through high school and college math courses and other students as well quite successfully. I was in charge of research projects within the university for Space Exploration and had to train/teach/coach several students in the development process relative to their responsibilities. I have also taught Science and advanced Math to students in my high school with the teacher's permission as I related well to the students that needed coaching. I also coached a "live in" college student through a variety of math and statistics courses, as the student was not particularly comfortable with advanced math courses.
While there are several talented tutors available, what distinguishes me from many others is that I display great deal of understanding for each student at their current level of knowledge and know how to move them step-by-step to a new level of understanding without frustrating them. I focus on real math understanding and not just memorizing some formula. I have a great deal of patience and stay with the student until the correct level of understanding is obtained. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. Master Degree from Stanford University, I had both Math and Science as majors. I have excelled in Math throughout high school and college and tutored all 3 of my children in Math courses ranging from basic Math to Calculus, including all the material (and much more) included in Algebra 1.
I have tutored several students, including 3 of my own children, through high school (and college) Math ranging from Prealgebra to Calculus, and all levels in between including Algebra 1 and 2 levels, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Geometry requires a broad range of understanding related to figures and solids (2D and 3D). This includes objects ranging from simple angle relationships, to triangles and multilaterals, including rotating objects around various axes of symmetry. Also required are basic trigonometry skills including length relationships, perimeters, surface area and volume, and the measurements of same with maximum error calculation techniques.
These are skills I have mastered over many years as I was responsible for the design and development of major products in a high technology corporation that required all the above skills and even more. I have mastered the understanding of those skills via majoring in Math and Science at a major university, graduating with a Masters Degree in Engineering.

Students need to have a good grasp of Prealgebra as the basis for most all common mathematical operations, including daily life. Simply put, it is the fundamental basis for most all math courses to follow as well as used daily in everyday life. It is especially important for common follow-on courses, especially Algebra 1 and Algebra 2. It encompasses the basic manipulations (add/subtract/multiply/divide) of common numbers including: place value, decimals, percent, exponents, square roots, and signed integers. It also includes being able to handle fractions in various ways, both simple and mixed numbers. Also, understanding the effect of scaling and proportions/ratios, including distance/rate/time is essential to grasp the concepts of scaling up and/or down and the effects of time and distance. Finally being able to factor numbers, including multiples of numbers, while being able to find the GCF (Greatest Common Factor) and/or the LCM (Least Common Multiple) is important.
I have mastered these skills over many years, starting as early as high school. I was tutoring many junior and high school math students, after class, with school permission, in a wide variety of math courses, including basic Math and Prealgebra. I have mastered the understanding of these skills via majoring in Math and Science at a major university, graduating with a Masters Degree in Engineering. I was invited to and accepted a membership in a National Math Honor Society. I was also the senior engineer/designer in custom pool design for many years, where basic math manipulations using the skills indicated for Prealgebra was a daily requirement.

Trigonometry requires skills relating to the measurement of triangles, including sides and their interior and exterior angles and includes triangles such as: Scalene, Isosceles, Equilateral, Obtuse, Acute and Right Angle triangles. Such skills are frequently used in any discipline that includes triangle shapes or functions in some form such as a product or object requiring technical design, various design or product evaluations, or science related disciplines.
Trigonometry commonly employs the use of radians and/or degrees as they relate to triangles. Right Angle, Isosceles, and Equilateral triangles have special characteristics and use known relationships to help solve problems related to them. The use of trigonometric functions such as Sin, Cos, Tan (or their inverse: Cosecant, Secant, and Cotangent) are commonly used in evaluating triangles. In addition to the use of these basic functions in a singular fashion, they may be combined with other parameters, at times, that requires a combination of various parameters and functions including Algebraic Equations mixed with Trigonometric parameters.
