About Paul

Dear students and parents!

I am an enthusiastic teacher who believes that everyone has the ability to learn and that we all learn differently. I have taught as a tutor and long term substitute teacher in the following subjects: English, Language Arts, Technology and Business. I graduated from the University of Phoenix with an Associate of Arts and I have a certification in computer literacy. Additionally, I have taught Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point. I have taught middle school as well as high school students.

My approach to tutoring is to first build rapport with students and then help them and work together to meet their academic goals. I also utilize a tutoring method where the student fully utilizes their critical thinking skills also known as the Socratic method. More importantly I realize that the practice of tutoring requires patience and understanding. The following are a list of subjects I have experience as a tutor: English, Reading, Writing, Business and Technology.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I am certificate in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
Currently teaching General Business.

Microsoft Windows

I have a certificate for computer literacy in Microsoft Office which includes Power Point, Excel and Access from the Academy of Computer Careers.

I taught Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word in middle school in the Osceola County School District. I have taken training as a part of my professional development in regards to Microsoft Word and other Microsoft products. I also have studied aspects of word processing (Microsoft Word) in my Associates degree program at the University of Phoenix which I successfully completed in 2013.
