During full-time employment, I taught adult co-workers how to use their computers and the software that they needed use to perform their jobs. I played an active part in helping my own children succeed in school. One holds a Master's degree in Elementary Education and the other obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design this year.

Coursework taken for my Bachelor's degree included satisfactory completion of Algebra, Calculus, Finite Math, and Discrete Math courses.

I have always been an excellent reader, and thrived on getting above average grades in school in grammar and reading.

Over the past three years, I have been substituting in the public school system. This has afforded me teaching experience in various subjects, in group settings and in one-on-one sessions. I have been successful at teaching children basic skills and encouraging them to study beyond what is being required in class in order to better prepare themselves for the future. I also have taken and passed the tests that are administered by Wyzant for Reading, Spelling and Elementary Math.

Reading

I have successfully raised children who possess great reading skills. I became an avid reader as early as elementary school. I have worked in the clerical field where I was expected to be able to proofread the spelling of others and make sure what they had written was grammatically correct. Spelling and grammar are definitely the background to good reading skills.

Help my 7-year-old with reading

My daughter was very comfortable with her and is looking forward to working with her. She is only 7 and is not confident with her reading which makes it hard to break that wall down. Her being comfortable is very important.
