Columbia College (Graphic Design)
A fully bilingual (English-Italian) graphic designer, actor/comedian, and radio DJ, I am proficient in and use frequently Final Cut Pro Studio 9, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create promotions of all kinds. From a family of graphic designers, I studied at Penn State University with famed graphic designer Bill Kinser, and finished my degree in Graphic Design at Columbia College. I’ve worked for Ogilvy & Mather Advertising in Graphic Design and Production, authored and illustrated my own book and CD, created posters for clients, and made special interior marbleizing and other design on walls.
I’m also a former, semi-pro, inline speed skater and practitioner of assembly t’ai qi as a meditation, and have taught fitness, safety and cross-training for athletes, with great results for my students. I am a patient, kind, and caring teacher. And I love to help people learn the beautiful Italian language! Tim was interesting and interested. He was both knowledgeable and patient. He gave me several good suggestions of extra materials and media to further my education and vary my learning tools and experiences. Looking forward to our next meeting.
Grazie mille, Diane!
Timothy was ready with recommended resources and willing to be flexible in developing Italian lessons to fit my desire to learn faster than a traditional college class. A very helpful personality that encourages one to venture speaking immediately without worrying about being judged. Perfect.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Prior to my bachelor's degree in graphic design, I produced a film that received an award. Subsequent to that degree, I incorporated design skills into filmmaking. Trained by a top professional at a Los Angeles editing bay, I edited my first documentary seven years ago using FinalCutProStudio. Since then I have been producing films and videos using FinalCutPro and its complementary audio program SoundTrackPro, as well as Motion, Photoshop, LogicPro, and others.
In addition to basic editing, my areas of proficiency in FinalCutPro include Chroma Key for green (or blue) screen, color alteration, filmatic effects, and transitions with Magic Bullet.
With a bachelor's degree in graphic design from Columbia College and many years of work in the field, I am very qualified to help those who wish to get ahead in studies related to graphic design.
Whether a student is working in Photoshop, Illustrator, or in film projects in FinalCutPro and more, I am happy to help.
Ease in the software needs to be accompanied by good design principles, concepts and protocols; and I will help with these, as well.
My degree in graphic design is the foundation to my film and video projects. I produce primarily in FinalCutPro, and also use Motion, Photoshop, Illustrator, LogicPro, and Audacity for preliminary images and typeface, motion, music and other audio.
Becoming a pro at film and video requires more than a good eye and ear. As an experienced, professional actor, director and producer, I am very familiar with coaching actors, as well as in editing scene takes, including those with multiple cameras, to best convey the emotion of a scene and produce compelling drama in a video or film.
