Ever since I traveled to Japan my sophomore year of university, and had the opportunity to tutor Japanese, I knew this was the job for me. I truly enjoy imparting the knowledge my professors passed to me, and imbuing new students with the passion and curiosity that this language can awaken. Japanese is all about history and culture, and learning it can enrich you in a multitude of ways. Whether you want to learn for work or pleasure, I would love to assist you on the way to your language goals.
I have administered Beginning Japanese private tutoring to American exchange students living in Tokyo. I have also worked with subtitling and translating. I have passed the N4 and N3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), and have taken the N2 through my university. I am currently studying for the N1.
I have been extremely lucky in the example my professors set, and my tutoring sessions will reflect that. You will be challenged every day, but we will also have lots of fun with this. Everyone is different, and we will find the best method that works for you. I will assign homework after each session, and I will keep you updated on your progress. I have a 12 hour cancellation policy, but I am flexible depending on the circumstances. Locations of study sessions will be decided on receipt of services. I do have transportation, so I am happy to travel when needed.
I look forward to hearing from you, and hope I can help you achieve your goals! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Japanese and spent 6 Months at Temple University, Japan Campus. I have JLPT N4, N3 Qualification.
