About Marsha

I have had 24 years of Accounting experience in large NYC corporations. My positions were Supervisor and Manager of various accounting departments. In that capacity I was teaching my workers continuously. At my last job at Young & Rubicam Advertising , on Madison Avenue in NYC I was managing a department of 5 workers. We had a wonderful relationship and I am still friendly with several of my employees.

I presently teach piano and I approach my teaching in a unique manner. It is very important to make all of your students feel special. As a result I am very close friends with my student's mothers.

Learning must be an enjoyable process in order for your students to feel comfortable. I feel that I am an excellent educator. I also have several education credits from Brooklyn College.

If you choose me to be your tutor I know that you will be very fortunate and enjoy the process.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Accounting

I have B.S. degree in Accounting from Brooklyn College. My career in New York City lasted 24 years and consisted of 16 years at Viacom International and 8 years at Young & Rubicam Advertising in various jobs such as Sr. Accountant and Manager of Accounting and Cash. During my years of working in NYC I have trained many accountants and I enjoy teaching immensely. I am still in contact with several of my employees as I consider them very good friends. If you take me on as an accounting tutor I am sure that you will be very content with my work.

Elementary (K-6th)

I studied elementary education subjects at Brooklyn College. While my children were pursuing their elementary education I was working as as assistant teacher at their school. I have also tutored elementary education subjects to various friends and family members.

Elementary Math

Elementary Mathematics was one of my majors in college. I was on the Math Help Squad in my High School as well as working with my children on their mathematics skills. Mathematics is my forte and I would like to help your child excel in my favorite subject.

Piano

I studied piano and theory with a very high level teacher in Brooklyn, NY for 8 years at the Y. About 10 years ago, I was very fortunate to study for 3 years with an accomplished pianist and piano performance teacher. At that time my husband and I performed duets in recitals which my teacher organized. My husband played the violin.

I taught the piano to my son who is now performing solos at weddings in NYC and shows as well. When he was in NYU Dental School he was the principal accompanist to all of the singers at their yearly Major Talent Shows. He also played the solo part in his senior year in high school for the show West Side Story. He also composes music.

One of my students has been taking piano lessons from me for the last 5 years and she is playing classical music as well as Broadway show music. She is now 15 and loves her piano lessons as I become not only a teacher to my students but a friend as well.

Another student sings as well as plays the piano and I had the fortune to teach her this year. She loved my lessons on the piano as well as her singing.

I am also currently teaching an older man who learned the piano when he was a young child. I am very patient with him, and he has learned several songs with me. He is also a close friend and really loves his piano lessons.

I taught my 2 grandchildren the piano when they visited me in the summers. My granddaughter also sings in her school choir and she loves to sing and play the piano for me over the telephone from NYC.

When I teach the piano, I teach the whole person and try to get them interested in learning by using the type of music that most interests them.
