Subjects

Art

Drawing,

Drawing

I am a lifetime student and professional artist. I have drawn and created characters for Nickelodeon's hit show "The Fairly Odd Parents." I use traditional methods to teach so the student can understand the form through simple shapes and a solid understanding of the human skeleton and surface anatomy. I have a passion and great respect for drawing and focus on the head and human figure. I have studied with Burne Hogarth (Tarzan artist & author of several iconic anatomy books) Glen Villpu (leading anatomy instructor for Disney and other animation studios) in the field of animation and figure drawing. Even if you want to create great cartoon characters the understanding of these principles is essential. I have created art for Marvel comics. Drawn storyboards for some of America's biggest ad agencies on a wide variety of clients from Chrysler Plymouth to General Mills cereals.
Graphic Design,

Graphic Design

I have taught graphic design software to people who have worked for me in my studio and others on an individual basis. I like everyone to first and foremost get a good understanding of the interface and what all the tools can do and how to use them. After a basic foundation is acquired I like to build simple projects with my students. I like to begin with a business card design and logo design so the student will encounter real world problems with the software when trying execute the final design. With these small projects as a foundation the student will garner confidence to move on to the more complex. As a working designer with over 20 years of experience I have branded the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (pro lacrosse). Created marketing for many fortune 500 companies including everything from annual reports, magazine ads, trade show displays, website designs.. logos and business cards. My clients have included NFL Properties, Macy's, Nabisco, Chrysler Plymouth, Holiday Inn and many others.
Painting,

Painting

I have been painting professionally for over 20 years as an illustrator and fine artist. I attended Parsons school of design as an illustration major. Graduated from Towson University with a BA in art. I also studied under professional portrait artist Charles Liese. I teach the foundation methods I was taught, pencil layout design, underpainting focusing on large shapes first and getting values right to final painting. My focus is on portraits and the human form. I have painted paperback covers in my early career. Currently some of my paintings are hanging in the East Coast MMA fight shop in NYC. Recently completed several portrait commissions.
