My life-long love for learning will allow me to provide prospective students with the knowledge, background, and experience in assisting with lessons in literature, reading, grammar, and vocabulary. I have over twenty years of teaching expertise in elementary and middle school--teaching all subjects in elementary school (Grades K-6); and reading, language arts, & social studies in middle school (Grades 6-8). I earned my BA in European Studies (literature and history) from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginina; two Masters degrees (MA in Human Resources Development & MEd in Education/instruction and curriculum). I completed a Gifted certification from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida; and completed my Reading endorsement from the School District of Alachua County in Gainesville. I am currently working on an online doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
I live in the Jupiter, Florida, area; and recently retired from the school district. I am, therefore, available to assist and prepare students for the annual state reading assessment. I can also provide homework help with reading assignments (particularly with Reading Plus), test prep, and reading remediation.
I particularly enjoy helping students broaden their reading knowledge and skills in young adult literature. I additionally have a background in grammar and writing skills, and can help with writing and research assignments. Lastly, I have training and experience with teaching reading skills and strategies that will prepare, strengthen, and enhance students' understanding and confidence for the annual state reading assessment.
I am generally available for tutoring, help, and assistance Monday through Thursdays in the afternoons, although I can make exceptions for weekends. I prefer to work with students at my home in Jupiter, local public libraries, or quiet venues within the Jupiter community.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your child achieve his/her academic goals and success.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
