Hi! My name is Cheri, and I am currently a high school Chemistry teacher in North Florida. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fl where I double majored with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and a B.A. in Psychology. I graduated from high school with my I.B. Diploma along with my high school diploma and carried a GPA of 4.85 weighted throughout high school and 3.58 across both college majors.
I hold an active Teaching Certification from the state of Florida DOE. Over my 4 years I have taught middle and high school in every grade across the following subjects: Grade 6 Math up through Algebra 2, IB Psychology SL, Intro to Psychology, Psychology 1/2, Environmental Science, and Chemistry 1.
I volunteered at a local tutoring center in my hometown for a good number of years on and off during high school and on breaks during college. Most of the students that I have experience tutoring were in middle school and high school, however, I am willing to tutor anyone who needs or wants help. Math was the main subject that I tutored, ranging from late elementary times tables and long division up through algebra and geometry.
Because of my majors, I have taken years of college level math and science: from Foundations of Chem through Organic Chemistry 2, Physics 1/2, Genetics, Statistics, and Calculus.
I took classical piano lessons for 14 years. Over the course of those years, I obtained knowledge of how to properly learn, practice, and memorize piano pieces. Each year I partook in a recital where I played a minimum of 2 memorized pieces. I was also able to play at different events around my community, building my networking skills.
I would love to help students to succeed in their classes, but I would also like to take this opportunity of tutoring as a way to also be a mentor and help them begin their path to being successful in life. I may be young, but if by imparting what little life knowledge I have can help my students, that would mean the world to me.
