Bio

Hi I'm Liz! I have a degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University and worked in manufacturing for 13 years. I received a Florida Professional Educator's certificate for Chemistry in 2010, yet never had the chance to teach - instead I chose to manage my husband's automation company. I still have the desire to teach but at this point believe that the most effective and rewarding way for me to do that is to tutor individual students.

I love math and chemistry and I am passionate about passing on my knowledge. I am patient, flexible and observant, so I am confident that I can clear up any confusion a student may have and help them to acquire the problem solving techniques that work best for them. I can help you get organized, master the material, come up with an effective study plan and teach you important test taking strategies to ease any anxiety and improve your grades.

I have been effectively tutoring math for 4 years, including prep for the Algebra 1 EOC and the PERT (the Florida college math placement exam). Additionally, I have an extensive academic background in math. My engineering curriculum included Calculus I, II, III and IV, Linear Algebra and Ordinary Differential Equations. I have also kept my math skills sharp by tutoring my own student in middle and high school math through Honors Calculus.

I have an extensive academic and career background in chemistry. My engineering curriculum included General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. As a chemical engineer, I used my chemistry, math and engineering knowledge to help support manufacturing and implement automation solutions.

I have spent a lot of time in chemistry labs and I can help you to prepare for your science labs and to master writing detailed lab reports.

I encourage you to contact me with any questions. Now that my own student is in college I have quite a bit of free time and I miss tutoring. Hopefully I can help you reach your academic goals.
