I have been teaching since 1999 and have taught Biology, Chemistry, Physics (standard, AP1, and AP2), and AP Computer Science Principles. In addition to teaching these courses, I have also tutored students in most of the math classes taught at the high school level. I have led workshops helping teachers to learn how to better teach Physics. In 2013, I was named the Teacher of the Year by the University of Norte Dame.

I am passionate about STEM education and feel that it is a gateway to many of the exciting high paying jobs that are available. I believe that anyone can learn science. Although some may initially struggle, true learning only comes after hard work.

As a physics teacher, I see how mathematics needs to used to solve problems and how it can be used to describe patterns seen in life. I believe mathematics is more than just repetitive calculations, but the study of patterns and how to best describe them.

With teaching Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, not only do I have experience with the course content, but I have insight into how the three subjects overlap and how the content of one course helps understanding in the others. Although I haven't taught in College, I have been teaching AP level physics courses since 2008.

I'm eager to help our next generation become ready for the challenges to come. Science and math is more than just memorizing equations. It's about recognizing patterns and learning how to use those patterns to solve problems.

Very Patient

Scott has tutored both our 9th grade daughter and 12th grade son. For each session he arrived on time and immediately got to work with our teens. Both our teens felt comfortable asking him questions and Scott left them with tips, notes, and encouragement. We definitely recommend him!
