I am a former classroom educator with over a decade of experience in working with students from early childhood to adult. I specialize in working with individuals with special needs including learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, developmental delays, and struggling readers. I also have several years of experience in teaching English and Reading to ESOL students.

I am skilled in helping students with test preparation strategies, methods for reducing anxiety, increasing reading fluency and comprehension, and improving writing skills. I enjoy working with students of all ages and contributing to their academic success. I am patient and compassionate and able to make students feel at ease, even when they have severe learning challenges and/or previous experiences of failure. I aim to turn those failures into successes!

I have a lifelong love of English language and literature. As a certified English teacher, I taught English and Reading to middle and high school aged students, and also worked as a Reading Interventionist, providing one on one and small group intensive reading intervention. I am also an active freelance writer and blogger.

Part of my teaching experience includes four years working in a vocational training program for young adults ages 16-24. I prepared them to increase their TABE and GED Reading scores. I also worked as an adult academic instructor in a residential facility for incarcerated women. I helped 10 women prepare for and pass their GED exams.

I have a B.A. in Special Education and most of my teaching and tutoring experience has focused on children and adults with learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, and other challenges. I am passionate about working with students with special needs and am adept at tailoring curriculum to meet their individual needs and learning styles.

If your child is struggling to complete homework or tackling reading, or if you are an adult trying to improve TABE or GED scores, or improve your own reading, don't hesitate. Contact me today to get the help that you need.
