##### About Leo

My greatest joy in life is seeing the look on students' faces when they have grasped a difficult concept. I started tutoring math while I was in high school, both as part of a "Peer Tutoring Class," and outside of school. As a student at Rutgers University, I worked as a tutor for Student Support Services, tutoring students whose parents never attended college. After graduating Summa cum Laude with a 3.95 GPA (and being admitted to Phi Beta Kappa in my second year), I continued to tutor both underprivileged and advanced students, mostly tutoring college students preparing to take credit by examination tests, and two colleges recommended me as the best tutor for their students.

I taught in a high school for two years, and then I taught concurrently at a middle school and an elementary school. I have taught students from ages 8-30, and I enjoy each age for its unique experience. I have taught or tutoring math (from basic arithmetic to calculus), writing, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.

When my students are faced with difficult problems, I teach them how to break down those problems into simple steps. Often, students already possess all the skills they need, they merely require coaching on how to approach the problems they face. Other times, students are uncomfortable with numbers, so I try to explain mathematical concepts without as they relate to areas without numbers, and then teach them how to do the same thing with numbers.

I like to challenge my students by pushing them just a little bit outside of their comfort zone, while making sure that they feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. I also use the hobbies and interests of my students as analogies for difficult math concepts.

I would love to help you grow until you reach heights you never knew you could reach.
