My name is Samantha. I have been teaching in Miami Dade County Public Schools for over 10 years. I taught 5th grade Math and Science, I was a Science Coach, and I also taught high school students at night, in pursuit of their GED. I currently teach Math and Science at FSCJ to adult education students getting their GED.
I love to see when students get that "ah ha" moment when I tutor. The moment when the light comes on and they get a clear understanding of the content, is my ultimate goal as a professional. I love to see students apply what they have learned in the classroom, on assessments, and in life. Learning is a life skill.
An outstanding Math tutor is one who is patient and understands that there is more than one method of solving a mathematical problem. I have a saying in my class, "there is more than one way to skin a cat". That means, I will show students multiple methods and they have the option to choose which is best for them.
I believe learning is fun! The more you learn, the more exciting it is to show what you know. If you allow me to assist you in your learning, you will have a great time doing it. Hello,

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
