About Curtis

I have a Masters from Vermont College of Fine Art and a degree in Graphic Design from Georgia State University. My teaching experience at the university level for seven years has given me an insight into working with students, especially those that may need extra assistance. Inspiring students and sharing design and software tips has been a most rewarding experience. When tutoring, each student is unique and deserves my full attention. Sharing ideas and tips for improvement are attributes we all need from time to time. Learning is a lifelong assignment for everyone. I look forward to assisting everyone in need of a few tips and inspiration.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe InDesign

I have taught Adobe InDesign at the university level for 10 years now. Adobe InDesign involves desktop publishing and interactive media development.

My Masters degree is in Graphic Design, concentration in Adobe InDesign.

Teaching page layout and booklet design is the major focus of Adobe InDesign. I instill in every student the artistic opportunities with Adobe InDesign that can create a work of art within a page layout.

Adobe InDesign has become my main focus within the industry and sharing industry attribute with each student raises their potential in the marketplace.

Adobe Photoshop

My qualifications have been approved by WyzAnt.

Desktop Publishing

I have been teaching Desktop Publishing at the university level for more than 10 years. This involves working in the Adobe Suite of products, mainly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

My credentials in desktop publishing include working professionally with digital desktop publishing companies and 4-color printers in cities such as Atlanta Tampa and Toronto.

The aspects of desktop publishing that I concentrate on include creating a 4-color product that prints on paper as good as it looks on screen, working with RGB and CMYK files through Adobe InDesign.

Drawing

I teach Foundations of Drawing and Illustration at the university level. Specifically teaching Drawing for Graphic Design, which has become a widely used textbook.

My career has been in visual art and graphic design with an emphasis in design, drawing and photography.

In 2013 I completed my Masters of Fine Art Degree, Graphic Design major which encompasses drawing with Adobe illustrator.

As a Graphic Designer my main focuss is drawing and digital painting using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

My military experience included my status as an Illustrator and drawing expert for the U.S. Government.

Graphic Design

My career has been in visual art and graphic design with an emphasis in design, drawing and photography. In 2013 I completed my Master of Fine Art Degree, Graphic Design major. Graphic Design has evolved into the Adobe Creative Suite of products that focus on Illustrator and Photoshop. My military experience included my status as an Illustrator for the U.S. Government. Macintosh

I have been working in the Macintosh platform since its inception. Understanding the OS operating system is fundamental in working with Macintosh computers.

Each application that I teach includes learning the Macintosh platform. With each new upgrade to the Macintosh operating system, I have the opportunity to share new technology with students.

In 2013 I completed my Masters of Fine Art Degree, Graphic Design major with a concentration in the Macintosh platform.

Photography

MY expertise is using Nikon photography equipment and teaching at the university level digital photography including landscape, architectural and studio photography.

My courses include portrait photography and lighting, digital photography and Camera Raw photography.

Each course in photography involves a close working relationship and understanding of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

In 2013 I completed my Masters of Fine Art Degree, Graphic Design major.

Visual Basic

I teach Foundations of Visual Design and Basic Visual Concepts at the junior and university level. Foundations of Design involves the core attributes of visual literacy and thinking.

Visual basics involves sharing with students one point, two point and three point perspective along with visualization of color and color choices. Visual Basics include looking back in art history at great artists to see how they first saw the world visually, including the creation of the Golden Mean/Ratio.

My Bachelors degree in in Visual Art from the University of Georgia. In 2013 I completed my Masters of Fine Art Degree, Graphic Design major which encompasses drawing with Adobe illustrator.
