I'm Nathaniel. I've lived in Jacksonville for a long time and studied at University of North Florida. During college all my friends would come to me for help with their history and English homework and projects. I'm really good when it comes to writing, grammar, and history. I absolutely love history, especially world history.
Most of my tutoring experience was with my friends, helping them prepare for their assignments. For teaching, when I was a grad student, I helped my professors lead a few classes and assisted the undergraduate students with in-class assignments. I like to work one-on-one with people, and help them so they understand the material and know how to use it.
I am a qualified tutor because of my knowledge of the English language. I've always been fascinated by writing, and I've worked at a company where writing was my job, so I know how to write for many different fields and subjects. I'm good with editing and encouraging people to do their best. I read a lot of books and am familiar with different writing styles and approaches.
I've studied history all my life, ever since I was a child. In college I studied European history and Colonial Spanish history. I like to look at the big picture of history, and how it all ties together. I like to determine how events shaped the world, and can then explain that in a way that is easy to understand.
I work with you, assessing your needs and figuring out what it is that you want help with. I recognize that most people understand the material, it's just that sometimes they don't have all the pieces to the puzzle. I'm able to give you the pieces you need to complete that puzzle and get a good grade in the class. I'm Nathaniel. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
