About Thomas

I'm an Ivy League graduate, attorney and published author with a diverse background in teaching and counseling students at all levels. My love of teaching stems from my love of academics. I thoroughly enjoy being part of a student's learning process. I know that hard work and diligence make all the difference, and that consistent effort leads to success. I'm able to inspire students to embrace and appreciate their academics, and have a demonstrated ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. I strive to work individually with each student to identify problem areas and address specific needs.

One of my great strengths is helping college and graduate students with difficult writing assignments, especially lengthy papers, and all varieties of writing styles and topics. Writing a term paper—I'm the tutor for you!

Over the last decade, I've helped many people, from high school students to graduate students, transition to the next phase of their academic development. I help students identify and communicate their unique skills and talents and create action plans that effectively position them to achieve their academic objectives.

I enjoy working with students and find great pleasure in seeing my students succeed. I'm patient and skilled at explaining ideas and concepts in multiple ways to accommodate individual needs. I have a laid back demeanor, and try to make academics/writing stress-free and enjoyable. I will always answer your calls and texts, and I'm great at responding to last-minute/emergency situations.

As a published author and legal scholar, I understand what it takes to perform and write at the highest levels of scholarship. I have extensive experience in various forms of writing, having written a non-fiction book (including a healthy blend of poetry), a children's book, and published a law review article. I have a unique ability to work with all writing styles while teaching students how to write more clearly, and with more influence, depth and insight. As a result, I'm able to work with students at all levels of writing—from high school through graduate/doctoral level curriculum.

I am also able to teach students an easy way to break down their own writing—for the purposes of proofreading and revising. I show them not only how to do it, but why it is important, how much it helps the overall quality of their own writing, and help them to easily master proofreading concepts to become a better writer overall.

I hold myself to the highest standards, and expect my students to be fully satisfied with all tutoring sessions. I always welcome feedback, and never charge for a session in which the student or parent is not fully satisfied with my tutoring.

If you have any questions at all, or are interested in working with me, please don't hesitate to email me!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bar Exam

I am currently a licensed Attorney in Florida and passed the Florida Bar on my first try. The Florida Bar is ranked 3rd in the nation for difficulty (after New York and California). I have also been a law school professor (adjunct) and have extensive experience preparing students to maximize their potential for academic success.

Business

I am a graduate of the Ivy League's Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. I have routinely tutored people before in this topic. I also have experience teaching at the law school level as an Adjunct Professor.

College Counseling

I have privately counseled and tutored high school students in college counseling for years. Having an Ivy League undergraduate degree, I know what good colleges and universities are looking for, and how to position high school students for acceptance into their top choices. I have also served as an advisor to the University of Pennsylvania, conducting interviews with potential students for acceptance.

English

As an Ivy League graduate, an attorney, former Adjunct Professor and a published author, I have a mastery of the English language.

I also have extensive experience teaching English to students from all backgrounds. I am an adept tutor in this area, whether it is for proofreading, writing, or related areas of the English language. I have helped students in everything from beginning writing classes to advanced writing classes, AP Composition, college/graduate school application essays, and everything in between!

Grammar

As a published author, I have extensive experience in various forms of writing and thorough understanding of grammar. I also have a unique ability to work with all writing styles while teaching students how to write more clearly, and with more influence, depth and insight. As a result, I'm able to work with students at all levels of writing—from high school through graduate/doctoral level.

I love teaching and writing. I let this show through engaging students, valuing their contributions and most importantly, building trust.

Law

As a licensed attorney and published legal scholar, I have a unique ability to convey complex legal concepts in an easy-to-understand fashion. I also have experience as an Adjunct Professor, teaching legal writing to law school students.

My legal practice specialties include legal writing and research, corporate law, healthcare law, regulatory compliance law, estate planning, real estate law, and Wills, Trusts & Estates.

Proofreading

This is one of my specialty areas, as it comes somewhat second-nature to me. Proofreading is one of the most overlooked aspects of writing, yet one of the most helpful if done properly.

I'm able to quickly identify problem areas, and then break down the various components of the writing into manageable pieces, highlight the nuances of each, and help students to identify any problem areas on their own!

Writing

As a published author, I have extensive experience in various forms of writing.

As an instructor, I often work with students on application essay writing for competitive universities and colleges, spanning from J.D., M.D. and Ph.D. to MBA and undergraduate programs. I regularly assist undergraduate (and graduate) students with significant writing projects, including graduate dissertations.

The best tutor on WyzAnt, period.

There is a reason why this Thomas has such great reviews. He did a great job with my Residency Personal Statement in a timely fashion. Took my work from average to excellent in just one session. He even settled a charge dispute without hesitation (it was 100% my fault). I would highly recommend Thomas to anyone who wants to boost their resume, personal statement, etc.
