Private tutoring is provided by a Certified Florida teacher with a Master's degree in education and a combined 18 years of classroom and tutoring experience teaching Kindergarten thru 7th grade. I tutor Reading, Math, English Language Arts, Organization and Study Skills as well as Penmanship.
In Reading, I offer a personalized approach to improving proficiency, fluency and comprehension using phonics instruction, reinforcing games and comprehension strategies. I also use The Barton Reading and Spelling Program when needed. This is a multi-sensory, kinesthetic, sequential program specifically designed for students who have difficulty with reading and spelling due to learning differences such as Dyslexia. To assist those same students with their Cognitive Development, Reading Comprehension and Thinking skills I also offer the Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing® program.
For my Math students I assess and address any gaps in understanding and break down the math concepts, operations and word problems into comprehensible steps. Then I provide activities and games to help cement the concepts.
I also provide homework assistance.
I am a positive, enthusiastic, dedicated and creative educator who believes that learning is a lifelong skill that needs to be positively fostered in our children. I am a flexible educator willing to try various approaches until I find those that bring my students success. My philosophy is to teach to the individual child and adjust instruction and practice to fit their learning styles.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a credentialed teacher who has taught for over 9 years. I have a degree in Special Education and a Masters degree in Education. It is supported by independent scientific research and also teaches to the Common Core State Standards.
As a tutor I provide:
1. One-to-one, private instruction in their home, school or Library.
2. A multi-sensory approach as would benefit visual and auditory memory.
3. Direction that takes the guesswork out of reading and spelling.
Having a strong foundation in reading and spelling improves a child's self-esteem and results in grade increases in all subjects. I am deeply committed to helping children reach their full potential.

I have a degree in Special Education and a Masters degree in Education. I am a California Certified Teacher whose credential is accepted in Florida where I live. I taught in Canada, Grades 7 and 4 in self contained classrooms and in Long Beach Unified I taught kindergarten, first grade and fourth grade.
I am a Masters level teacher with over 9 years of teaching experience. I have also spent the last five years tutoring students in a variety of grades from kindergarten to eighth grade. One of the main things I work on with my students is their self organization and time management. I help them to organize their binders and provide them with methods so that they know exactly what needs to be completed and most importantly, I provide them with a system so they remember not only to hand it in, but they will also know where it is, so that it can be handed in on time. So often the work was completed but the student cannot find where it is to hand it in.
I enjoy teaching a variety of study techniques to help students learn their material as well. So often, once a child is organized and work begins to be handed in without penalty, the child's grades start to reflect the child's maturation into a student. A student is organized, knows how to manage their time and has a number of study techniques to use. My goal is to turn children into students.
