About Anthony

How do you measure success? By improved grades? By a better attitude? By promoting genuine interest in a subject? Whatever you need for your child is what I strive to provide. I work closely with students and parents to achieve whatever goals that they set out to accomplish.

I graduated with a bachelor's in chemical engineering from Notre Dame in 2009 and with a master's in education from Notre Dame in 2011. I know what it takes to achieve, and I try to pass all of this knowledge on to all my students. I really enjoy teaching and seeing children succeed.

My main tutoring areas include basic math up to trigonometry, grades 3-12. I have tutored elementary school math, middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and discrete math. I have also tutored chemistry and physics students, as well as any other middle school sciences. In addition, I have extensive tutoring in test prep - SAT, GRE, ASVAB, TEAS, FCAT, among others - as well. Lastly, I am available for English and reading if needed. Feel free to contact me with any and all tutoring needs.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

Teach Algebra 1 every day at my school; extensive math background and very good at relating algebra to your life.

Algebra 2

A in Algebra 2 in high school; have helped/ tutored my brother in this area before all this past year. Very extensive math background and good at breaking down the key concepts of Algebra 2 and Trigonometry.

ASVAB

Excellent at teaching percentages, probability, geometry, and arithmetic and logic reasoning... topics that are heavily covered on the ASVAB entrance exam.

Chemistry

Majored in chemical engineering in college; took extensive high school and college chemistry courses. Very good at the mathematics of chemistry and the reactions of various materials.

Elementary (K-6th)

I teach middle school and am certified to teach anywhere in the country. I also tutor younger students, so I am capable of explaining more basic concepts to younger students, too.

Elementary Math

Teach middle school math every day, and also tutor younger students. Am very good at breaking down and relating math concepts to very young students.

Elementary Science

Teach middle school science every day, and also tutor younger students. Am very good at breaking down and relating science concepts to very young students.

GED

Aware of the skills necessary to receive a GED; excellent in teaching math and reading.

Geometry

Teach geometry on a regular basis; taken and excelled at various geometry and trigonometry classes.

Golf

I have 14 years of golfing experience. I led the team to 2 District Championships in high school and won a 55 person tournament in high school as well as placed in the top ten in regional competition both junior and senior year. I coached my younger brother for 7 years as he was developing his game.

Physical Science

Teach physical science on a daily basis; is my favorite subject to teach as well as performing various classroom science experiments.

Piano

I have 11 years of classical piano training. I am the high school accompanist for my school's chorus and director of youth choir at my current school I teach at.

Prealgebra

I have been a Pre-Algebra Teacher for the last 3 years. I have seen 2 years of growth both this year and last year with 7th grade on assessments and 1 year each with 6th and 8th grade. I really enjoy doing a variety of different projects with the students and engaging different learning styles.

SAT Math

730 (94%) on the SAT in high school; am a great test taker and very good at teaching strategies to people taking tests. Also highly skilled in the math that is covered on the SAT.

SAT Reading

690 in Reading on SAT (92% in country). Have read extensively and know what types of questions they ask on the SAT. Have also studied numerous practice books / tests on the SAT, and am very capable of improving scores.

SAT Writing

I have now tutored over 20 students in SAT prep; I can discern (from a cursory reading) where students need to improve their writing, overall paragraph logic, essay flow, and sentence structure. I can also help them with their grammar in working the multiple choice problems. In working with many students, I know what can and does work. I will do my best in order to improve your student;s writing skills as they attempt to master SAT writing.

Voice (Music)

I am extensively qualified to teach voice to students. I have been involved in singing for the past twenty years of my life. I have taught students voice before by virtue of being the choir director at my elementary school for the past 4 years. I led instruction on the piano and through vocal exercises as well as teaching 2 part harmony to a group of 30 students. I have extensive vocal training myself, and know what it takes to learn breathing technique and excel in a variety of music ventures. I was even a member of a nationally touring choir for four years in college. I know how to teach children breathing and musical techniques that will improve their vocals, I am aware of dynamics and different song markings, and I know how to teach children to listen and blend with others. I really enjoy teaching music and would be excellent at teaching private vocal lessons.

He really helped me understand my chemistry before my test the next day. I think I made an A on that test. That was the first test I've ever felt confident on thanks to Anthony! Definitely will have him help me again!
