Hello.

My name is John and I am a Graduate Student at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. I attended UNF as an undergrad where I majored in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. After graduating, I was accepted to the graduate Master's Program in Mathematics at UNF. In years past, I have been a volunteer tutor for the Society of Physics Students UNF chapter. I have taken a broad base in science and mathematics courses including Calculus Based Physics I and II, Chemistry I and II, Biology I, Calculus I, II and III, Ordinary Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics, Modern Physics and all corresponding labs of the above. I was an undergraduate research assistant for three years concentrating in the field of experimental solid state physics with a focus on the properties of semiconductors. I have, to date, two publications (2008 and 2012) in the Journal of Applied Physics, of which I am a co-author. I am a certificated teacher, and taught Honors Physics at a local magnet high school for high achieving students for two years.

I live near Campus at the university and I am willing to drive in the immediate Jacksonville area. I am able to tutor in most science and math topics at the high school or college level, including but not limited to:

Calculus Based Physics I and II
Algebra Based Physics I and II
Algebra I, II (High School)
College Algebra
Precalculus
Calculus AB, BC (High School)
Calculus I, II, III
Ordinary Differential Equations.

I am also familiar with complex analysis, partial differential equations and linear algebra. I am willing to tutor UNF, FSCJ, JU or local high school students.

works well with high school student

My son, a Junior in HS, has been working with John for the past few weeks. He sees him for Physics tutoring. John is patient and works well with my son. He shows him how to set up the Physics problems and the steps for solving them. John is always on time for their meetings and is very easy to communicate with. He answers messages quickly. When he wasn't available for an in person tutoring session recently, he did a quick Face Time session with my son.

Great tutor!

John was able to explain things clearly so they were easily understood. He used real world examples. He was patient and effective. I no longer feel overwhelmed. I would highly recommend him.

Excellent with teenagers!

John is very knowledgeable, patient, calm and organized. He is always on time. He writes everything down for my son to refer back to when progressing through physics. He never makes him feel like he is inadequate if he is uncertain about any information. He leaves my son feeling confident about what he has learned and feeling capable of progressing forward independently. He rocks!
