About Robert

After 40 years of teaching experience, I have discovered many approaches to teaching the big picture, the smallest concept and the common beasts of chemistry. Every kid is different, and I can start where the individual is and guide him or her over every hurdle.

Evidence of my successes are the high rates of passing in AP and Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A-Level Examinations. Nevertheless, regular and honors students whose interests are in the arts are the most fun to work with.

Geographically, I have taught in Hawaii, St. Thomas, Daytona Beach, and Dade County; plus I taught with Peace Corps in Africa. I normally served as Science Department Chair in most places. Locally, the range is from Miami Central to the high-ranking Reagan/Doral.

I connect with kids because I am also a surfer. This activity has provided me with the ability to relate to kids while I maintain that teacher relationship that is so critical. I boast 2 amateur surfing championships in 2 different divisions and have started successful chess clubs at multiple schools. Kids enjoy being taught by someone who has survived a shark attack and a bull elephant charge.

In closing, you get the benefits of an experienced, dedicated teacher who enjoys seeing the light come on in kid’s eyes.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I have taught successfully the following: AP Chem, Cambridge Chem (IGCSE, AICE and A2), Honors and Regular plus two years at the college level. My experience is that there are just a few things that are keeping you from grasping it all. I can get you past those few things so that you can soar to the grade of your choice.
