I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a BA in Social Work. After graduation, I moved to Georgia to volunteer at a non-profit that serves youth with severe emotional and behavioral issues. At my volunteer site I work with youth ages 5-11. My description as a volunteer included, one-on-one weekly tutoring with youth, assisting youth in the classroom, and engaging youth in extracurricular activities. Many of the youths I served is facing some sort of an educational gap. As their tutor, my goal was to help them bridge the gap with one-on-one tutoring. I helped bridge that educational gap by meeting the youth where he/she is, educationally. Once I find out where the youth is educationally, I then find resources that I can use with the youth in tutoring.
