So there I am trying to stay awake during yet another hour-long math lecture (yawn), vigorously scribbling notes as fast as my hands would allow me to write, and by the time the bell rang...for some reason I could never really remember anything. I would spend hours working through lengthy study-guides, online practice tests, forcing myself to retain information that my brain couldn't easily digest, or at least seemed allergic to. Frustrating.

I would spend hours working through lengthy study-guides, online practice tests, forcing myself to retain information that my brain couldn't easily digest, or at least seemed allergic to. Frustrating.

And then I met Ms. Lewis. She was my 10th grade geometry teacher. By the way, I hated math. I was terrible at it, or so I thought. But she made me come to understand that math wasn't all that bad. And that's the kind of educator I've always strived to be, and many of my current and former students would say the same!

Hi, my name is Ariel! Born in Brooklyn, NY and partly bred in sunny SoFlo, I've been an educator for about 5 years. I'm a music teacher, poet/songwriter and major foodie! I've always had a love for education. I have a degree in Music Education, and I've worked with students ages K-12, in music, writing, history, reading and math.

My goal is to use whatever creative means possible to cater to the diverse learning capabilities of my students. I assess all of my student's weaknesses, and encourage their strengths. My hope is that you are challenged and inspired with every session. I use creative and fun techniques that'll help you understand the material 'beyond the book' and how it applies not only to the real world, but 'your' world.

I love that tutoring truly gives the student the undivided attention they need to cater to their specific learning style. It gives students the opportunity to really dissect the material in a way that the classroom setting doesn't always allow.

I've been writing for many years, and consistently seize opportunities to sharpen my s
