I have been a self-employed tutor, a private tutor and a teacher for about ten years. I have tutored mostly for elementary reading, math, computers and homework assistance. I am extensively trained and certified in my subject areas through Miami-Dade County Public Schools and I am an elementary school teacher. I have taught grades 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.
I hold a master's degree in education and I’ve have my degree for 10 years. I provide assessments and intensive intervention to resolve academic challenges for all of my students. In addition to that, I will also address memory skills, attention skills and processing skills with the student so they understand the entire process of learning and retaining information.
Learning is fun and I like to incorporate a lot of fun learning materials on the Internet, music and great reading stories as well as several hands on creative projects. I take my job seriously. I love teaching. I will assign and grade all work immediately and I will give immediate feedback and I will recommend what subjects need to be targeted more.
I am a teacher however, the students are teachers as well. We can both learn from each other but, at the end of the day my goal is results. Generally speaking, I am pretty flexible with time and days however, for everyone's convenience I ask for 24 hour notice of cancellation.
I am eager to meet you. I look forward to meeting with you soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a professional educator for elementary education the last 10 years. I have taught K-6 grades and I have taught all subjects. I have observed children for clues as to their needs and learning styles; adapted teaching methods to accommodate their needs. I have identified struggling readers and consulted with parents and issued personal challenges for the student.
I have also tutored at my schools in math and reading for FCAT and I have used strategies such as Cooperative Learning where learning is a systematic pedagogical strategy that encourages small groups of students to work together for the achievement of a common goal, Chunking and questioning aloud where the process of reading a story aloud to a group of students and stopping after certain blocks of text to ask the students specific questions about their comprehension of the story and some key features of the text.
I obtained my Masters Degree in education about 10 years ago. I love teaching. It is my most favorite thing to do and I do it with passion and compassion.
I am a certified teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. I like to use hands-on items to teach my students. I also use the internet for various lessons. I enjoy teaching Math because math is a universal language and very easy to teach. Several of my co-workers always ask me what do I do to or what do I use that makes my students understand. I take a lot of pride in what I do and the goal at the end of the day is results.
In 1st and 2nd grade, I have played various games with my students and I have used some "phonics charts" or word charts that contain rows of words that follow a phonics rule of the week. There are about 5 words on a row and 4-5 rows on a chart. I usually display one chart via the projector each day, and I ask my kiddos to choral read the words. As we choral read the vowels, I usually ask two or three students that I think still need help to come up and read individually. We also watched DVDs with phonics, to sing songs so that they will automatically remember the sounds. My students also made booklets that they could take home and practice with. I have been teaching this for about 4 years
