Broward college (Secondary Math)
My desire to help students achieve came from a family line of teachers. I am a mother of two adult children who are graduates from University of Florida school of engineering, and University of Central Florida school of Journalism. My drive to see students succeed and perform at their greatest potential has always been paramount. I recently went back to school to pursue my dream as an educator. I graduated Broward College earning an associated degree with highest honors and I have continued to matriculate at Broward College with an expected graduation date in May 2017 as a summa cum laude graduate in secondary math education.
Math is an academic language which I enjoy, as I love logic and reasoning. My hope is that with every student I meet, I can make a difference in their academic ability by empowering them to propel in ways they may not have imagined and given them the support they need to strive. When students know that even if they fail sometimes as many do, it is through failure that they learn how to succeed best, then they know there is hope. My joy is to see students develop positively and strongly in academics and be only the best that they can be.
A math tutor possesses specific qualities and talents, some of which I have been blessed with. I am patient with students and will reteaching if necessary. I believe in the constructivist theory of teaching where I develop ways for students to create their learning according to their individual abilities. I also believe in engaging students with challenging material to strengthen and provoke learning.
I am generally available to tutoring from 3pm to 9pm on weekdays. I am also available on Saturdays from 12 noon to 5pm. While I enjoy Sundays being at home, I understand that students are tested on Mondays and for that reason I am willing to work on Sundays as the need arise. I can travel to students for more convenience. My rate is $70.00 per hour.
I will be delighted to meet with you and to help you to achieve your academic goals. My desire to help students achieve came from a family line of teachers. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
