About Leonardo

I hold a B.F.A degree in Film Drama from Syracuse University (Class 1984). A 31 year career has given me the opportunity to consolidate my experience as a director and writer in both film and television. I have worked in Venezuela, Mexico, and in U.S., where I have been based for 11 years. What has made me a professional of reputation in the business is the broad knowledge I have acquired about all areas of my craft over the years through studying and working in a wide variety of genres: documentaries, commercials, corporate programs, variety shows, and ultimately, drama and fiction. Mastering the craft has always been my main goal. Being a passionate artist and leaving always a print with my work became my north in the search for excellence since I was in school.
Directors are leaders. They work in collaboration with producers to make projects a reality. I lead both talent and crew inspiring them in order to achieve a common dream. I make them share a vision and lead them with harmony, respect, and ethics. One of the most fascinating aspects of the craft is the sharing of knowledge in order to reach goals. I have mentored lots of young talented people I have worked with throughout my career because transmitting knowledge and experience is what I made me the professional I am thanks to professional people who mentored me in the past. I find that educating others who never had a chance to go to school like I did, and that have learned the craft only through experience, deserve the benefit of being guided to become better professionals.
I have a talent for the didactic, and I find it rewarding to be in the position of collaborating with others inspiring them to do a good job and excel in their roles. I normally invest in study materials (books, and other sources of knowledge) and make them available to those who I see eager to learn. Often, I am invited to speak about different facets of the craft to students, young actors who are in the process of learning. I strongly believe that teaching others is, in the long run, one of the most rewarding learning experiences a professional can have. My expertise is summarized is the following areas: screenwriting and directing film, television, and drama. I am also a professional still photographer, and write fiction. I am perfectly bilingual: English /Spanish.
In Film and Televison areas I am knowledgeable and can assist you in the realization of projects from the conception of your idea, screenwriting, production, directing, post-production.
In Drama, I can be of assistance in the writing of your play as well as in coaching your acting, and assiting you in the directing.
In Photography, I can assist you with theoretical aspects, visualization, composition, photographing, and lighting both in studio and on location.
