Elim Bible Institute (Bible Christian ed)
Hi there! I've been teaching almost 27 years and acquired most of my education instructed privately. My philosophy of teaching is this: Music needs to be presented in a FUN and ENCOURAGING way in order for your students to grow I'm laid back in my teaching style but still structured to an extent. I like to give my students a variety of music to learn - not just the boring teaching method book that they all need to have. I also recognize that students have different learning styles and I try to cater my teaching to each student and their needs. I believe in PRACTICE - taking lessons without it is useless. I believe that parents NEED TO BE INVOLVED by setting and enforcing a short practice time at least 4 days a week.
I've taught General Music in Christian, Catholic and charter schools and I've even owned my own music school with 9 teachers and over 200 students and 4 satellite programs. I've worked with LOTS of homeschool families and co - ops over the years and continue to do so now. I hold recitals once a year - usually in January or February when it's not so busy and I keep my rates reasonable so families can afford a half hour lesson. Lesson rates vary depending on your location but start as low as $25 per half hour in your home. If you come to my home the rate is even lower. Adult students love me as a teacher because I keep things relaxed and I go at a pace that works for them too.
Experience working with preschoolers - grade 12 and adults and senior citizens. Lots of experience as a church musician and playing for weddings and special events. I teach piano/keyboard and voice. I love teaching all three because I love doing them all myself.
Feel free to contact me and discuss and what you're looking for whether it's for yourself or your child(ren). If I can't help you, I will refer you to someone who can! But I'm pretty sure you'll LOVE me! Hi there! I've been teaching almost 27 years and acquired most of my education instructed privately. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been employed by Christian, catholic and charter schools as a general music teacher and have also taught general music to homeschool co ops in Western NY and the Tampa Bay area.
As a teacher (Music - General) I had students submit written or typed papers to me regarding various music subjects. In high school I also tutored a student in writing occasionally when asked. In addition I had a son who had issues with handwriting and worked with him at various times trying to help him improve his handwriting skills in spite of his issues with fine motor skills. I believe patience and repetition help a student in this area.
I studied piano privately from age 5- age 19 and have been a general music teacher and private music teacher for many many years as well as a church musician and worship director.
As a senior in High School I tutored special needs students in reading and also a few elementary students as well. I've also helped a few students while I was a music teacher with different things as needed in reading since I am an avid reader myself and enjoy it immensely.
I have been teaching voice since 2004 and have done so in schools and privately based on my own training and experience as a teacher, student and church musician.
