About Michael

Mike is a detail-oriented, technical professional with a strong work ethic. Mike has almost 30 years of technology experience including: database/application development (Access, SQL Server); website development (SharePoint, HTML, VBScript, etc.) and computer systems administration (Windows, Office, etc.). His consulting background includes program management experience; technology training; training curriculum design, course development and delivery. He holds several I.T. industry certifications (CompTIA A+ and Security+ plus several Microsoft certifications) and has been teaching technology courses professionally for many years.

In addition to his technical background, Mike has been playing the guitar for over 35 years. This includes over 15 years experience playing in a worship setting. He has also taught guitar in the both the public schools and via private lessons. And for the last 10 years he has shared his love of the guitar with hundreds of school children as part of the annual Great American Teach-In. Mike has played professionally for the several productions by the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center. He holds a B.A. in Audio Recording and Production and worked as a radio DJ for several years before moving into the technology sector. Mike has extensive experience as an audio engineer (FOH and studio), as well as video editing experience. Mike is constantly seeking new ways to merge his love of music with his technology background.

Mike's teaching style is a mix of the theoretical and the practical. When teaching computer/technology subjects, Mike has been blessed with the ability to translate the technical into "layman terms" so that the student can quickly grasp the concept without getting hung up on the "techno geek speak." When teaching guitar he believes in providing a solid "book knowledge" (chord theory, music reading, etc.) but framed in a fun and engaging way that motives the student to WANT to play (and practice) their instrument.
