About Adrianna

Bio

Hi, I am the (near future-) Dr. K! I have completed my last clinical rotation as of June, and I wanted to work and help aspiring doctors to pass those anxiety-inducing exams. I tutored throughout my two years of basic sciences, and continue to read, learn and teach in clinical sciences. Although I have finished my rotations, and graduate in August, I am applying for the 2020 Match in September, and would like to stay sharp while partially funding my residency interviews.

I spent over a year of my basic science training solidifying my knowledge by teaching my colleagues. I formulated weekly lesson plans and tutoring sessions that, at times, ran over 3.5 hours. I have always benefited from bouncing ideas and concepts off another student who is studying (if not has already mastered) the same material I'm studying, and I hope to serve other students in the same way.

I tutored medical microbiology, histology, and pharmacology in a small-group session for a semester each. I TA-ed anatomy for an entire year. I worked in the cadaver lab helping people understand and navigate their dissections as well as running dry lab where we learned about the organization and mnemonics that are necessary for learning the complexities of human anatomy. I volunteered in a Harvey Lab for a year, teaching students about cardio-pulmonary physical exam techniques as well as reading EKG tracings, interpreting heart sounds, and assessing a critical patient.

I have taken and passed Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 3 CS. The majority of my studies have been self-guided, and I'm actually preparing to study for Step 3, so I have great insight into the evolution of test-able material through this grueling process.

I am a very laid back person to talk to while still color-coordinating my day-planner. I spends the majority of my free time reading and studying. Medicine is a career of life-long learning, and I believe the best physicians can teach their colleagues and patients as learn from them. I want to become one of and train those physicians. I am excited for this extra period in my timeline to study more and help my future colleagues achieve their goals.

Subjects

Science

Pharmacology,

Pharmacology

I passed both of my pharmacology block exams as well as Step 1, and Step 2 CK on the first tries. I tutored a small group of students every week for a semester. During these tutoring sessions, I would prepare a 3-hour interactive lesson based around the student's curriculum.
Physiology,

Physiology

I took two semesters of Physiology in medical school and ran a study group with my peers. I passed both block exams on the first try, and was inducted into the Honors and Service society for my competitive GPA.
Anatomy

Test Preparation

USMLE

USMLE

I have (largely independently) studied for, taken, and passed Step 1, Step 2 CS, and Step 2 CK. I continue to study for Step 3 on my own.
