Hi! My name is Camila, and I am a junior at Michigan Ross pursuing a BBA in Finance with a minor in Data Science. I will also earn my master’s degree in Statistics at Michigan after undergrad. Hi! My name is Camila, and I am a junior at Michigan Ross pursuing a BBA in Finance with a minor in Data Science. I will also earn my master’s degree in Statistics at Michigan after undergrad. Growing up, I was often hesitant to ask for help, but I have since found that listening to and teaching peers is one of the most effective ways to truly understand concepts. Too often, material is taught with the false assumption that the fundamentals are fully understood, like building a house on sand. In my tutoring sessions, I aim to strengthen that foundation first. I start by identifying where a student is in their learning process and tailor the session to fill in any gaps before moving forward. I introduce topics clearly and simply, followed by guided practice to reinforce understanding. My goal is always to meet students where they are and adapt based on their comfort with the material.
As Vice President and co-founder of the National Math Honor Society in high school, I led tutoring sessions for students in grades 9-12 in subjects ranging from Algebra 1 to Calculus 2. I typically give students the option to revisit problems they struggled with in class or challenge themselves further using worksheets and resources from equivalent college-level courses at my university, especially in subjects like calculus or introductory finance and accounting. I have experience with standardized test prep, having scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and ACT and being a National Merit Finalist. I currently tutor my younger sister, who has scored in the 94th percentile. I use past exams and online platforms to help students improve their scores. While I am most experienced with students aged 13–17, I am prepared to help learners of all ages in math, statistics, and test prep. I am always looking to improve my tutoring strategies and truly appreciate any feedback.
Feel free to reach out with any questions. I am always happy to help and am available outside of scheduled lessons. I look forward to the chance to tutor you!
