My name is Yana and I am a graduate student at Yale Divinity School. In 2011, I graduated from the University of Florida with a finance major and French and real estate minors.
I was born in the Ukraine and lived in Israel for 10 years. I also studied abroad four times: in France, South America, Israel, and Germany. Thus, I am fluent in Russian, Hebrew, French, and Spanish and have intermediate knowledge of German. I can tutor students in reading, writing, listening comprehension, and speaking in the above languages.
In addition to foreign languages, I have a passion for math and over eight years of tutoring experience in algebra and geometry. I am also passionate about biblical studies, ancient history, and religious studies.
Lesson plans will depend on each student’s level and desired concentration. We will work on the areas the student feels less comfortable with by using interactive teaching methods.
I am a patient, responsible, and dedicated teacher. I tutor individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds, so don't hesitate to contact me for more information or if you have any questions.

Yana has taught my daughter more in four lessons than her French teacher has done in the entire french course.
I wanted to improve my speaking, reading and comprehension abilities in this language and I started with Wyzant this summer. I found Yana on this site in the South Florida area and started with weekly lessons. At first I was somewhat apprehensive taking lessons but after my first session I realized that I had found an incredible teacher.I am a serious student and she has met my expectations and beyond by understanding and providing what I needed to improve. As an example every week she sent me several articles from a wide spectrum of topics and sources as well as videos and video lectures to prepare for the session. After our session she faxed the many errors I committed during the conversation. This was the most useful aspect for improvement in my conversing skills. At the end of the summer she ended the sessions here and moved to Connecticut. She is definitely one of the best teachers I have ever had and highly recommend her.
Yana helped my daughter with understanding French and speaking also for her testing tomorrow. Thank you, she can't wait till next week!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
