I've done math and physics tutoring on and off during school and have been tutoring for the last 4 years (including a lot of online tutoring).

I've taught general physics both with and without calculus (PHY2048, 2049, etc. in Florida). To familiarize myself more at the start with the calc sequence curriculum I had worked through all the problems in the copy center notes for UFs calculus 1,2 and 3 courses. I explain mathematical concepts intuitively and try to work with a students way of approaching a problem. Students coming to me are also welcome to contact me if stuck some material.

I still have an interest in pure math and am reading a text book on Galois theory. I'm very interested in evolution and have read the Selfish Gene, What Is Life? (both the book by Lynn Margulis and the one by Schrödinger), etc. I'm also interested in religious phenomena (including the fairly new cognitive theory of religion), animism
(including shamanism) and the "new atheism" movement.

Calculus,

Calculus

I take a conceptual/intuitive approach to calc, not overly formal, and like to reduce formal definitions to their intuitive content and make frequent use of pictures in illustrating concepts. I've studied such advanced topics as functional analysis, Galois theory and path integrals.
Physics,

Physics

I emphasize concepts and comprehension, so if you're not interested in the material and just want answers to problems, you should probably look elsewhere. Problem solving and conceptual understanding are complimentary; the more you understand the better you can solve the problems. I also emphasize the geometric picture of vector operations; this can help you choose the 'correct' coordinate system for resolving vectors (for a mechanics problem) and understand things like why the acceleration points inward in uniform circular motion, etc.

Good teacher

Helped me understand the information that was needed to begin my homework and also helped me start my homework. I have a better understanding of physics.

Genesis, 1 lesson with Andrew

knowledgeable and helpful tutor.

Andrew and I went over kinematics equations. I liked that it was easy to follow, and he made the formulas clear. We went over problems that looked easy on paper, but I was happy for him to help me walk through them because they were not as easy as they looked.

Excellent Tutor

Really has a grasp on various physics topics and can explain them to you in a way that is easily understood! Some of the topics we reviewed were Fluid Pressures, Bernoulli's Equations, kinematics, and some gravity based problems.

Knowledgeable Tutor

Andrew was very knowledgeable and knew his stuff!! He simplified many calc 1,2 and 3 topics so they were easier to understand

Joy, 1 lesson with Andrew

Great teacher

Andrew helped my daughter with pre calculus honors. He helped her with trig. He was patient and a great teacher.
