About Patricia

I graduated summa cum laude and fell in love with teaching children, all children; those with special needs and those without. I have been in education for 30 years. I have been a principal, supervisor and lead teacher (which I currently am). I have started two private schools, two daycare centers and a tutoring service.

I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Special Education. I have taught and continue to teach Special Needs students. I have 20 years of ESE teaching, Supervisor, Coordinator, Lead teacher.

I currently teach math to students who struggle with basic math operations: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Occasionally I tutor in fractions, Algebra, Geometry, Data Analysis, Number Sense and Number operations.
I love teaching math because there are no irregular rules or changes. Math is always the same.

I also teach reading to struggling readers. I give them strategies that will increase their comprehension and fluency. Student who hated reading are reading again for pleasure.

I started tutoring 25 years ago because parents asked me to. I saw students' attitudes change because I was able to make learning fun. Students saying "I get it." is the most exciting thing to me.

I originally wanted to major in math when I was younger. I love math. I see it as a puzzle coming together. I have taught Algebra I and II, Consumer math, basic Arithmetic and basic Math. I took more Math classes in college than I needed to. I have taught Math for the majority of my Education career.

I was ordained in the ministry in December, 2004.

I passed the Florida General knowledge test K-6. I have taught elementary school for 20 of my thirty years. I am certified K-12, ESE. I have taught all disabilities except the blind and the deaf. I had a daughter with sickle cell disease and I wasn't a teacher. She had a stroke at age 7, developed dyslexia and I couldn't help her. I became a special education teacher to help her as well as other students.

I think learning should be fun. I have a unique ability to break down materials, turn the abstract into concrete and make learning fun. Math, Reading, English, Social Studies, Science, Language (writing) should be fun. My goal will be to develop a learning program just for you, to meet the classroom requirements for learning and keeping the learning.
