University of Florida (Political Science)
I am patient and flexible in my teaching. My goal is to help people understand an answer, not just memorize things. I adapt well to different learning needs and love to help people in a personalized way.
I understand the frustration in having a certain learning type (visual rather than auditory, or needing hands-on lessons rather than simply memorization and recitation.) I have young siblings who have different learning needs and I work with both of them in personalized ways to make sure they are truly understanding what I am helping them with.
I received a full academic scholarship to attend The University of Florida. To earn extra income while in college, I was a stay-in sitter for a 10 year old girl who had difficulties in math and English. One of my responsibilities was to help her with her homework and make sure she was prepared for any tests that may be coming up. I graduated Cum Laude from The University of Florida with a degree in Political Science. Political Science is in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, so I received a thorough education in many subjects, ranging from History to Literature to Math and Grammar, etc.
I am an avid reader and received high marks in all of my Liberal Arts (English, Literature, History, Politics, etc.) courses.
I am available to help with all different kinds of learning needs and look forward to making learning an exciting experience. I want people to feel proud of themselves for understanding something, not frustrated because they aren't being taught in a way that is most beneficial to them. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
