My education is in English Literature (BA) with a minor in Art History; Master's Degree in Library Science; and Educational Specialist Degree from the University of Florida, 1996. My experience includes 10 years of Elementary/Secondary and college teaching in Language Arts and Library Science practice and teaching. An additional 7 years was spent as a Reference Librarian in Florida Public Libraries and the University of Florida. With my varied background in education and library science, I consider myself to be a Humanities specialist who can assist especially with Language Arts, Humanities and research.
Additional experience is independent tutoring for four years in Gainesville assisting elementary and secondary students and adults with Language Arts and Composition (letters of recommendation, legal compositions, etc.). I enjoyed my tutoring experiences immensely and would like to continue my assistance to students by helping with current studies and a variety of projects involving literary skills, research and composition.

I constantly strive to enhance my writing and communicative skills through writing and communications. Above all, I love to help students and share my knowledge and skills in the hopes of improving their accomplishments and competence in my areas of expertise.
I consider myself open and encouraging to students and all who wish to improve their language arts skills. My goal is to make learning a pleasant and rewarding experience for my students, helping them to become independent learners. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
