I've always had a passion for helping others. It is extremely rewarding to see children discover their potential and overcome their obstacles. After graduating with a degree in pre-occupational therapy I have been given the opportunity to become certified by the Handwriting Without Tears program. By doing this I am able to work with children from all walks of life, which I LOVE! Working under an occupational therapist I have learned many new skills and I am able to keep up to date with the ever changing OT practices.
I am a certified handwriting tutor trained in HWT Pre-K through 5th grade curriculum. My goal is to see your child succeed and have fun!
Handwriting is an essential skill for both children and adults. Even in the age of technology, handwriting remains the primary tool of communication and knowledge assessment for students in the classroom. Recent findings demonstrate that writing by hand improves creative writing skills and fine motor skills. When children acquire good handwriting practices, they are set up for success in written communication and have positive feelings about school. By using fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate instructional methods we enable children to master handwriting as an automatic and comfortable skill. The Handwriting Without Tears® curriculum enables children of all abilities to succeed with handwriting!
Handwriting difficulties addressed:
Letter and number control, spacing and placement
Letter and number size, sequencing and orientation
Fine Motor Skills

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a level 1 certified handwriting tutor through the Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum. I use a multisensory approach in teaching handwriting in order to see the best results. Working in a pediatric occupational therapy center, I have the opportunity to gain knowledge on new techniques and treatments.
